How much do you know about the advantages of TPU film?

TPU film is increasingly popular because of its superior performance and environmental protection concept.

At present, wherever PVC is used, TPU film can become a substitute for PVC. TPU film can not only be laminated with various fabrics, but also can produce products with clear outlines and stable dimensions by vacuum thermoforming.

With the continuous improvement of domestic environmental awareness, the application of TPU film is becoming more and more extensive. Among them, the areas with faster growth rate: shoe upper lining, thermal underwear, transparent underwear, transparent shoulder straps, elastic bands and medical breathable tapes.

In addition, there are also a large number of applications in the field of clothing fabric lamination. The fabric after lamination with TPU film has the effect of waterproof, warm, breathable and breathable, which is very suitable for sports clothing.

    Advantages of TPU film

    1. Wear resistance

More than five times more wear-resistant than natural rubber, it is one of the preferred materials for wear-resistant products.

    2. Tensile properties

The tensile strength is as high as 70MPa, and the elongation at break can be as high as 800%.

    3. Tear performance

TPU film has high tear resistance, and its tear strength is better than that of commonly used rubber and plastics.

    4, tortuous performance

TPU film can maintain excellent resistance to bending in different environments, which is one of the best choices in polymer materials.

    5. Hydrolysis resistance

TPU film has good water resistance under turbidity, and will not undergo significant hydrolysis for 1-2 years.

Polyester series will be completely hydrolyzed if soaked in water at 50 degrees Celsius for half a year or at 70 degrees Celsius for 3 weeks or at 100 degrees Celsius for 3-4 days, which is one of the reasons why TPU film is suitable for environmental protection materials.

    6. High temperature resistance and oxidation resistance

TPU film has good oxidation resistance. Generally, the temperature resistance of polyester series can reach 130 degrees Celsius, and the temperature resistance of polyether series can reach 90 degrees Celsius.

    7. Oil resistance and chemical resistance

TPU film is a kind of strong polar polymer material, which has little affinity with non-polar mineral oil, and is hardly corroded in fuel oil and mechanical oil. Among them, polyester series products are oil-resistant in TPU film. Sex is better.

    8. Low temperature performance

TPU film has very good low temperature resistance, usually reaching -40 degrees Celsius, which is a good substitute for PVC.

    9. Air tightness

TPU film is very easy to be welded by high frequency or hot pressing, so it is widely used in inflatable products. Generally speaking, the air tightness of polyester series products is better than that of polyether series.

    10. Biomedical properties

TPU film has excellent biocompatibility, non-toxicity, no allergic reaction, no local irritation, no pyrogenicity, so it is widely used in medical, health and other related products as well as sports and protective equipment.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
