Some advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film
TPU hot melt adhesive film is a kind of hot glue, which is completely different from our common liquid glue, transparent tape, self-adhesive, glass glue and 502 glue. It is a non-tacky stable solid at room temperature, which can be melted when heated to a certain temperature, and then thermocompressed or compounded! Compared with hot melt adhesive films of other materials, TPU hot melt adhesive film has a softer touch under the same thickness.

Its main component is thermoplastic polyurethane, so it is also called thermoplastic polyurethane polyurethane hot melt adhesive film. TPU hot melt adhesive film has some common characteristics of polyurethane materials, such as soft material, cold resistance and water resistance.

Because it takes time to heat the TPU hot-melt adhesive film, it also takes time to coat the TPU hot-melt adhesive film on the surface of the adherend after the TPU hot-melt adhesive film is melted. Too long hot pressing time will lead to excessive penetration of the TPU hot melt adhesive film, and too short hot pressing time will lead to poor spreading of the TPU hot melt adhesive film. In short, the hot pressing time is too long or too short will cause adverse effects.

Some advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film

There are many specifications of TPU hot melt adhesive film, which can meet the application requirements of different products. Products bonded with TPU hot melt adhesive film have good appearance performance, such as the production of seamless garments and seamless walls. It has a fast bonding speed, which is convenient for continuous, automatic and high-speed operation. The TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need a drying process, and the bonding process is simple. In addition, the cold resistance of TPU hot melt adhesive film is very important in practical application. For example, the cold resistance of PA hot melt adhesive film is lacking. If it is not modified, it will become very hard and brittle in winter, which will affect the final bonding effect. However, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not have such a problem. Even at minus 30-40, TPU hot melt adhesive film can also maintain good softness.

TPU hot melt adhesive film needs to be heated and melted to have adhesion, otherwise it will be the same as ordinary plastic film. When bonding materials, the TPU hot melt adhesive film should be placed between the substrate to be bonded and the substrate to be bonded, and a certain pressure should be applied to obtain a good bond.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
