Temperature, pressure and time need to be considered when choosing TPU hot melt adhesive film

TPU hot melt adhesive film is a kind of hot melt adhesive and is an environmentally friendly adhesive. Like all hot melt adhesive films, it has good adhesion properties. Temperature, pressure and time are three important adhesion factors for TPU hot melt adhesive film. If you are not careful, the TPU hot melt adhesive film may be deformed, have bubbles, and have excessive hot melt.

TPU hot melt adhesive film needs to be heated and melted to have adhesion, otherwise it will be the same as ordinary plastic film. When bonding materials, the TPU hot melt adhesive film should be placed between the substrate to be bonded and the substrate to be bonded, and a certain pressure should be applied to obtain a good bond. Temperature and pressure are two important factors for good adhesion of TPU hot melt adhesive films. Because it takes time to heat the TPU hot melt adhesive film, it also takes time to coat the TPU hot melt adhesive film on the surface of the adherend after the TPU hot melt adhesive film is melted. Too long hot pressing time will lead to excessive penetration of the TPU hot melt adhesive film, and too short hot pressing time will lead to poor spreading of the TPU hot melt adhesive film. In short, the hot pressing time is too long or too short will cause adverse effects.

When we choose TPU hot melt adhesive film to bond this material, we must consider this temperature condition. If the melting temperature of the selected TPU hot melt adhesive film is similar to the temperature resistance of the material to be adhered, the material will become soft even if the TPU hot melt adhesive film is formed. At this time, we only need to choose low temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film to bond the material. As long as the use temperature of the TPU hot melt adhesive film is lower than the softening temperature of the material itself, it can ensure that the adhered material does not deform during the hot pressing process. When developers choose TPU hot melt adhesive film, they need to consider this issue in advance and narrow the range of TPU hot melt adhesive film models, so as to achieve more with less effort.

TPU hot melt adhesive film is a recyclable and environmentally friendly product, and the loss rate is low in the whole process of production and use of TPU hot melt adhesive film. The leftover material of TPU hot melt adhesive film can be fully recycled in the process of making key materials, which has the advantages of reducing energy consumption, activation temperature, initial setting, carbon dioxide emission and cost.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
