What are the core advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film

TPU hot melt adhesive film is currently a widely used hot-melt adhesive film product, widely used in clothing, shoe materials, packaging and other fields, and its consumption is second only to EVA hot-melt adhesive film. So, what are the specific advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film, so that TPU hot melt adhesive film can be widely used? Below we briefly introduce the answer.

The main component of TPU hot melt adhesive film is thermoplastic polyurethane, so it is also called thermoplastic polyurethane polyurethane hot melt adhesive film. TPU hot melt adhesive film has some common characteristics of polyurethane materials, such as soft material, cold resistance and water resistance.

Compared with hot melt adhesive films of other materials, TPU hot melt adhesive film has a softer hand at the same thickness, so TPU hot melt adhesive film is very suitable for the compounding and bonding of textile fabrics in the field of clothing. The fabric bonded by TPU hot melt adhesive film will be very comfortable to wear on the human body, and there will be no plastic feeling or foreign body feeling.

In addition, the cold resistance of hot melt adhesive film is very important in practical application. For example, the cold resistance of PA hot melt adhesive film is lacking. If it is not modified, it will become very hard and brittle in winter, which will affect the final bonding effect. However, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not have such a problem, and it can maintain good softness even at minus 30-40 °C.

Another advantage of TPU hot melt adhesive film is that it has very good washing resistance. We know that TPU hot melt adhesive film is often used for fabric bonding in the clothing field. And clothing inevitably needs to be cleaned during use. The washability of TPU hot melt adhesive film makes our clothing more durable.

You should now have an idea of the advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film. The three points of softness, cold resistance and washing resistance are the core advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film, which makes it widely used in the textile field.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
