5 characteristics of TPU film

TPU film is made of film based on calendering, casting, film blowing, coating, special technology and so on. TPU film has the advantages of high strength, good toughness, cold resistance, oil resistance, aging resistance, weather resistance, environmental protection, non-toxic, decomposable, waterproof and moisture permeable, windproof, warm, antibacterial, anti-ultraviolet and so on. It can be used in shoe materials, waterproof and moisture-permeable fabrics, food packaging, medical supplies, inflatable capsules, sports and leisure equipment and many other fields.

1. Wear resistance

The wear resistance of TPU film is more than 5 times higher than that of natural rubber, and it is one of the materials that should be selected for wear-resistant products.

2. Tensile properties

The tensile strength of the TPU film is as high as 70 MPa and the elongation at break is very high.

3. Tear performance

TPU film has high tear resistance, and the tear strength is better than ordinary rubber and plastic adhesives.

4. Tortuous performance

TPU film can maintain excellent shake resistance in different environments and can be used as polymer materials.

5. Hydrolysis resistance

Good water resistance under turbidity, no obvious hydrolysis for 1-2 years, polyester TPU film is completely hydrolyzed at a certain temperature and time, which is one of the reasons why TPU film is suitable for environmental protection materials.

1. Polyester TPU film:

Features of polyester: easy to process, more heat and oil resistant than polyether, especially suitable for high-profile TPU leather goods and sports equipment.

2. Polyether TPU film:

Features: Polyether has good water resistance, mildew resistance and antibacterial properties, and its hydrolysis resistance is better than that of polyester. It can prolong the hydrolysis time and is suitable for water sports and medical equipment.

​From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
