What should I pay attention to when using TPU hot melt adhesive film?
When we use TPU hot melt adhesive film, we often encounter some problems. For example, after the TPU hot melt adhesive film is hot-pressed, the adhesive layer will generate air bubbles, and the air bubbles remain between the adherend and the adhesive layer; there are also TPU hot melt adhesive films due to low working temperature, low pressure, and short time. Is it enough to wait for this series of problems to be solved in this way?

What should I pay attention to when using TPU hot melt adhesive film?

When we use TPU hot melt adhesive film, we often encounter some problems. For example, after the TPU hot melt adhesive film is hot-pressed, the adhesive layer will generate air bubbles, and the air bubbles remain between the adherend and the adhesive layer; there are also TPU hot melt adhesive films due to low working temperature, low pressure, and short time. Prevent TPU hot melt adhesive film from generating air bubbles during hot pressing

Before using the TPU hot melt adhesive film, we must check whether the TPU hot melt adhesive film contains too much moisture. If there is too much moisture on the surface, water vapor will be generated during hot pressing. When water vapor cannot be removed, bubbles are created. So in general, you should also pay attention to storing TPU hot melt adhesive films. The air humidity in the storage area should not be too high, and good ventilation conditions must be maintained to avoid excessive moisture content in the TPU hot melt adhesive film.

In order to better discharge the air in the rubber layer during hot pressing, roller hot pressing should be used as much as possible, which can effectively discharge the air in the rubber layer. , which can effectively exhaust air and reduce the chance of air bubbles.

TPU hot melt adhesive film is easily melted insufficiently due to low operating temperature, too low pressure, and too short time. It is only necessary to adjust the equipment according to the operating temperature, time, and pressure reference values required by the technical specifications given by the TPU hot melt adhesive film manufacturer. Debug, test according to the actual situation, and determine the compound conditions. If the problem in operation can be ruled out, it is necessary to check whether the wrong type of TPU hot melt adhesive film is selected.

Generally speaking, different types of TPU hot melt adhesive films are suitable for different adhesive materials. This is what we often call material compatibility. If you choose the wrong type of TPU hot melt adhesive film, just replace the correct TPU hot melt adhesive film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
