TPU films can be divided into two categories: polyester and polyether.

1. Polyester TPU film:

Characteristics of polyester: easy to process, more heat and oil resistant than polyether, suitable for TPU film luggage, leather goods and sports equipment.

2. Polyether TPU film:

Features: Polyether TPU film has good water resistance, anti-fungal and antibacterial functions, and its hydrolysis resistance is stronger than that of polyester, which can prolong the hydrolysis time and can be used in water sports and medical supplies.

What are the advantages of TPU film?

1. Antibacterial and antifungal

In harsh environments, bacteria, water and ambient temperature may affect the TPU film, and the anti-mold TPU film can well prevent such phenomena.

2. Hydrolysis resistance

TPU film has excellent water resistance and environmental protection in a turbid environment, and it will not be affected by long-term use.

3. Low temperature environment function

The TPU film can be as low as -40°C, which can have low temperature environment tolerance.

4. TPU film tear performance

TPU film has strong tear resistance. The tear resistance of the TPU film also reflects the transverse physical properties of the raw material, the degree of notch tear, the notch angle and the tear standard.

5. Transparency

Under different thicknesses, the transparency of the TPU film can be seen, and we often use the thickness to evaluate the transparency of the TPU film.

TPU film has many advantages. When used at minus 35 degrees, it can maintain the original characteristics, such as resilience, flexibility, wear resistance, etc. These are all worth paying attention to. For most TPU films, the application fields of color TPU films are still relatively small, mainly because there are relatively few customers with color requirements, and more customers are looking for transparent colors, white matte, black, and For other colors of TPU film, only a small number of customers have special requirements.

​From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
