TPU film can be divided into polyester and polyether

TPU film film produced by extrusion casting of TPU pellets has the characteristics of high moisture permeability, air permeability, cold resistance, heat resistance, abrasion resistance, high tension, high tensile force, and high load supporting force.

TPU films are widely used in shoes, sporting goods, ready-to-wear, medical supplies, leather bags and luggage, auto parts and many electronic products.

TPU film can be divided into two categories: polyester TPU film and polyether TPU film:

1. Polyester TPU film:

After the polyester TPU film is torn, the sawtooth shape is obvious.

Features of polyester TPU film: easy processing, better heat resistance and oil resistance than polyether TPU film. Its application range is especially high frequency forming, TPU film leather and sports equipment are more suitable.

2. Polyether TPU film:

The sawtooth shape is not obvious after the polyether TPU film is torn.

Polyether TPU film features: It has the advantages of excellent hydrolysis resistance, mildew resistance and antibacterial properties. Its hydrolysis resistance is better than polyester TPU film, which can prolong the hydrolysis time. Suitable for water sports and medical equipment.

TPU film is made of TPU granular material as raw material, through extrusion die, casting, film blowing and gluing. Now widely used in footwear: trademark logo decoration on insoles and shoes, airbags, air cushions, oil bags, etc. TPU is a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer material. Its composition has been tested by SGS ASTM F963. It does not contain cadmium, lead, mercury, arsenic, chromium and barium, and meets the standards of environmental protection.

​From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
