The main component of TPU hot melt adhesive film is thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber

TPU hot melt adhesive film is therefore also called thermoplastic polyurethane. It has excellent wash resistance and good flexibility and is a popular one among all hot melt adhesive film materials.

Different specifications of TPU hot melt adhesive film have different melting temperatures, namely high temperature and low temperature. If the heating temperature is higher than the temperature required for the TPU hot melt adhesive film, the TPU hot melt adhesive film will melt too fast or melt too much, allowing the glue to easily penetrate into the material to be adhered. Especially in some textile fields, if the temperature is too high, the glue will penetrate and affect the bonding effect.

The advantages of TPU hot melt adhesive film mainly include the following points:

1. The TPU hot melt adhesive film has a fast bonding speed, which is convenient for continuous, automatic and high-speed operation.

2. There is a wide range of objects that can be bonded, namely bonding and sealing.

3. Easy to use, can save manpower, improve productivity and work efficiency;

4. Appearance properties of products bonded with TPU hot melt adhesive film, such as making seamless garments and seamless walls.

5. No drying process is required, and the bonding process is simple.

6. Good tensile elasticity, no deformation after long-term use, and durable.

TPU hot melt adhesive film is divided into high melting point type and low melting point type. They not only have different working temperatures, but also have very different characteristics. High temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film is malleable and completely transparent in color. The higher the melting point, the higher the elasticity and transparency of the TPU hot melt adhesive film. The ultra-low temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film is inelastic and the color is milky white frosted.

TPU hot melt adhesive film is a recyclable and environmentally friendly product, and the loss rate is low during the production and use of TPU hot melt adhesive film. In the process of making the input material, the membrane waste can be completely recycled, which has the environmental advantages of reducing energy consumption, activation temperature, curing time, carbon dioxide emission and cost. In addition, the time required for TPU hot melt adhesive film to fully activate is relatively short, while traditional woven adhesive films can only be fully activated at lower temperatures.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
