The difference between TPU film and PVC film

TPU film has the incomparable advantages of PVC and can replace PVC.

TPU films have excellent properties and have a wide range of resistance to deformation, nicks and scratches, i.e. hardness, and even under these conditions, their elasticity and abrasion resistance still perform well. At the same time, the TPU film has excellent bearing capacity, strong impact resistance and vibration damping properties, which means that it has high mechanical strength.

The difference between TPU film and PVC film

Features of TPU film: TPU film has excellent properties of high tensile strength, high tensile strength, toughness and aging resistance, and is a mature environmental protection material. It has the characteristics of high strength, good toughness, wear resistance, cold resistance, oil resistance, water resistance, aging resistance and weather resistance. This is unmatched by other plastic materials. At the same time, it has many excellent functions such as high waterproof and moisture permeability, wind resistance, cold resistance, antibacterial, mildew resistance, warmth retention, UV resistance, and energy release.

PVC film characteristics: The softness, elongation at break and cold resistance of the soft PVC film will increase, but the brittleness, hardness and tensile strength will decrease.

There are many subdivisions of TPU film according to different color numbers, which are not listed here. Usually, the customization of such products is provided by the customer with a color number, and there are certain requirements for the quantity.

There are many brands of TPU film, and the quality is uneven. It is best to go through a detailed evaluation and demonstration when choosing a TPU film, otherwise the best cost-effective results cannot be obtained.

In harsh environments, bacteria, moisture and high temperature will damage the TPU film, and the antibacterial and mildew-proof TPU film can effectively prevent this. Antibacterial and mildew proof are typical features of ether TPU film, which can be used in harsh and complex environments, with anti-aging and long service life.

TPU film can now gradually replace the raw materials of silica gel. Perhaps because of its strong recyclability, it has a great advantage in price. Besides, its safety performance is relatively high, and some related researchers also use TPU. The membrane has some contact tests done on the skin, so people can use it with some peace of mind.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
