Introduce the characteristics of TPU film

TPU film has considerable development prospects. It is an environmentally friendly material and has good elasticity when used. When you know more about it, you will find that it is very tough and has good anti-aging properties. TPU film is widely recognized and used by everyone, mainly because of its advantages, strong tensile force, comparable air permeability, strong toughness, wear resistance and many other aspects. Let us introduce the characteristics of TPU film in detail.

1. Wear resistance

Compared with natural rubber, the wear resistance of TPU film is greatly improved, which is more than 5 times that of natural rubber, and it is the leader in wear-resistant products.

2. Tensile properties

The tensile strength is as high as 70MPa, and the elongation at break can be as high as 800%. The good ductility is more in line with the needs of many industries.

3. Tear performance

TPU film has strong tear resistance, which is obviously better than rubber and plastic.

4. Bending properties

Because of its anti-shake properties, TPU film has good adaptability to various environments and is a good choice among polymer materials.

5. Hydrolysis resistance

TPU films have good water resistance in the cloudy state and are not easily hydrolyzed in about one to two years in most cases.

6. High temperature resistance and oxidation resistance

TPU film has strong oxidation resistance. In most cases, the temperature resistance of polyester series can exceed 130 degrees, while the temperature resistance of polyether series films is above 90 degrees.

In addition, the TPU film itself has good oil resistance, chemical resistance, low temperature performance and air tightness. TPU film has good application in petroleum industry and inflatable products. However, it should be noted that the price will be slightly higher. For some companies with less application time, other cost-effective membranes can be appropriately selected, which is more conducive to cost control.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
