Advantages and types of TPU film

TPU film has many advantages, so it has a wide range of applications. For example, the advantages of TPU film are better in some clothing, such as lining, thermal underwear, elastic belt, medical breathable belt, etc. The fabric bonded with TPU film is waterproof, warm, and breathable, making it ideal for sportswear. Let's take a look at the advantages of TPU film.

Elasticity of TPU film

The deformation rebound of TPU film is mainly the characteristic of TPU film recovering immediately after being deformed by external force.

tortuous performance

TPU film can maintain excellent resistance to bending in different environments, and is one of the best choices in polymer materials.

Transparent effect of TPU film

The transparency of the TPU film refers to the ability of the natural color test piece to be intuitive and clear at different thicknesses. Thickness is often used to evaluate the transparency of TPU films.

Deformation rate and resilience of TPU film

The deformation and rebound of the TPU film are the deformation degree of the unit volume of the sample under the action of vertical pressure. The speed and degree of rebound after releasing the pressure can judge the compressive ability of the material.

Friction resistance of TPU film

TPU film is formed by extrusion casting of thermoplastic elastomer polyurethane particles. The thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer particle is a heat storage material, which generates heat by friction, and the wear of the fixed pressure and the surface of the sandpaper reflects the degree of wear resistance of the material.

1. Polyester TPU film:

Features of polyester: easy to process, more heat and oil resistant than polyether, especially suitable for high-profile TPU leather goods and sports equipment.

2. Polyether TPU film:

Features: Polyether has good water resistance, mildew resistance and antibacterial properties, and its hydrolysis resistance is better than that of polyester. It can prolong the hydrolysis time and is suitable for water sports and medical equipment.

These 10 points are the advantages and types of TPU film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
