How to judge the quality of tpu hot melt adhesive film

TPU material is strongly welcomed by the market because of its performance and environmental protection, and almost all places where PVC can be used are replaced by TPU. Because TPU has better performance and wider application range, PVC can only lag behind. So how do we judge the quality of tpu hot melt adhesive film?

colour

Due to the different colors of the adherends, the color requirements of the tpu hot melt adhesive film should also be different. If the adherend itself has no special requirements for color, it is recommended to use yellow tpu hot melt adhesive film. Generally speaking, yellow tpu hot melt adhesive film is stickier and more elastic than white film.

heat resistance

tpu hot melt adhesive film is very sensitive to temperature. When the temperature reaches a certain level, the tpu hot-melt adhesive film begins to soften; when the temperature is lower than a certain level, the hot-melt film will become hard, so the temperature change of the product environment must be fully considered when selecting the tpu hot-melt adhesive film.

viscosity

The viscosity of tpu hot melt adhesive film is divided into early viscosity and late viscosity. Only when the early viscosity is consistent with the late viscosity, the tpu hot melt adhesive film and the adherend can remain stable. In the production process of tpu hot melt adhesive film, oxygen resistance, halogen resistance, acid and alkali resistance and plasticization should be guaranteed. The viscosity of tpu hot melt adhesive film varies with different materials. Therefore, different tpu hot melt adhesive films should be selected according to different materials.

Surface treatment of the adherend

The tpu hot melt adhesive film is friendly to some attachments, but if there is a lot of dust or oil, it must be dealt with in time, so that the tpu hot melt adhesive film can play its due role.

tpu hot melt adhesive film is made by melt extrusion of TPU raw material. The film has the advantages of high temperature resistance, high toughness, high strength, environmental protection, easy decomposition, "breathable" and so on. They are gradually replacing materials such as pvc, eva, artificial leather, especially in the field of thin films. For example, footwear consumes the largest amount of tpu hot melt adhesive film, such as some sports shoes, high heels and outdoor shoes, which require the use of a large amount of film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
