Precautions when using TPU hot melt adhesive film

The development prospect of TPU hot melt adhesive film is considerable. After all, the manufacturing cost of TPU hot melt adhesive film is relatively low. TPU hot melt adhesive film is an environmentally friendly material and has good elasticity when used. When you get to know it better, you will find that it has great toughness and also has a good performance in terms of anti-aging.

TPU hot melt adhesive film can be applied to environmentally friendly adhesive film products in the field of seamless embossing. Similar to ordinary film, both sides are tacky at high temperature, which can bond two layers of material together, with washability and good bond strength.

1. First, we should see what your raw materials are. TPU hot melt adhesive films made of different raw materials have different properties of hot melt adhesive films, and no glue is omnipotent. For example, polyurethane has a strong adhesion to fabrics, but not nearly as strong as polyethylene plastics.

2. It depends on the state of the material at high temperature. If your material can withstand a high temperature of 130 degrees, then you must choose a TPU hot melt adhesive film with a melting point lower than 130 degrees, because if the processing temperature does not reach the melting point of the adhesive, the TPU hot melt adhesive film will not melt, and the adhesion almost zero.

3. When using TPU hot melt adhesive film, need to consider the softness? Need to consider high temperature or low temperature applications? Do you want to wash it with water? Is it dry cleaning? Do you want to consider the expansion force?

4. If you have a variety of TPU hot melt adhesive films to choose from, please choose the most cost-effective TPU hot melt adhesive film, and when you meet the bonding requirements, please choose the thinnest TPU hot melt adhesive film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film has excellent properties such as high strength, high toughness, abrasion resistance, oil resistance, cold resistance, aging resistance, environmental protection, non-toxicity, degradability, etc., which is incomparable compared with other plastics and rubbers . With good waterproof, moisture permeability, wind resistance, cold resistance, antibacterial, anti-ultraviolet and other properties, it can be widely used in industrial and civil fields. It also has a feature that it is green and environmentally friendly, and can completely replace PVC film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
