Future trends in elastic characteristics of hot melt adhesive films

The hot melt adhesive films series using hot melt adhesive as raw material has attracted much attention in the hot melt adhesive industry and has become a new type of composite material, which can be used in different industries, bringing good news to more and more enterprises. This is a revolution in industrial production and an inevitable trend in the development of the hot melt adhesive film industry.

There are five types of hot melt adhesive films, namely PA hot melt adhesive film, EVA hot melt adhesive film, PES hot melt adhesive film, TPU hot-melt adhesive film and EAA hot-melt adhesive film. In fact, each type of hot melt adhesive film has a certain elasticity, but the difference is the elasticity. Of course, this is influenced by their material.

What kind of hot melt adhesive film has strong elasticity?

Among the five types of hot melt adhesive films, TPU hot melt adhesive films have the greatest elasticity. We will see many articles introducing the characteristics of hot melt adhesive films, while the introduction of TPU hot melt adhesive films mainly focuses on elasticity. If the high-elasticity hot-melt adhesive film is classified according to the material, it is actually classified as a TPU hot-melt adhesive film, which can be said to be a special customized version of the TPU hot-melt adhesive film.

The market size of hot melt adhesive film in mainland China has become the main market for hot melt adhesives in the world a few years ago, and it is also a hot spot for hot melt adhesives in the world. Although the foundation of the hot melt adhesive market in mainland China is already large, its annual growth rate is still faster in the world. With the rapid development of the domestic industry, textile industry, clothing industry, etc., the demand for thermal bonding technology is becoming stronger and stronger, and hot melt adhesive film occupies a very important position in the entire composite material market.

In recent years, people's awareness of environmental protection has increased sharply, and relevant laws and policies have become more and more strict. China's domestic environmental protection situation is also very serious. Therefore, the environmental protection of hot melt adhesives should be regarded as an important turning point in the development of enterprises. The rapid development of the hot melt adhesive industry forces innovation, and only continuous innovation can keep up with the pace of the industry. It is believed that in the near future, hot melt adhesive film will be applied to more and more industries.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
