Are TPU hot melt adhesive film and TPU film the same product?

Many people think that TPU hot melt adhesive film and TPU film are different terms for the same product, but this is not the case. TPU hot melt adhesive film is a very sticky adhesive. The main purpose of TPU hot melt adhesive film is to solve the problem of compounding materials. As mentioned above, it is different from traditional adhesives. It needs to be heated before bonding, which is more environmentally friendly, washable, transparent, high temperature and low temperature!

Although TPU films are similar to TPU hot melt adhesive films in shape and name, their functions are different. TPU hot melt adhesive film is viscous and is used for bonding between substrate and substrate, whileTPU film is waterproof. TPU film is mainly used in sports shoes, self-inflating bags, air cushions, oil bags, etc. that require waterproof performance Material.

TPU film is an environmentally friendly polymer made from special processes such as calendering, casting, film blowing and coating on the basis of TPU particles. It is divided into polyester and polyether, and the thickness is about 0.01-2mm. It is widely used in processing methods such as injection, extrusion, calendering and dissolving into solution resin. It is a plastic material frequently used by plastic processors, and its products cover a range of industrial applications and civilian necessities.

TPU hot melt adhesive film is a kind of viscose product, essentially a glue, used for composite materials. In terms of hot melt bonding, TPU material can be well bonded with various materials. high strength

After the above introduction, I believe everyone should know that TPU film and  TPU hot melt adhesive film are not the same product. TPU film is essentially a film, but TPU hot melt adhesive film is essentially glue! There is a certain substitutability under certain conditions, but these are two completely different products!

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
