We all know that glue is used to bond objects, hot melt adhesive film is a kind of adhesive, naturally used to bond materials. It's just that this adhesive is slightly different from the common adhesives in our daily lives, because it needs heating to have adhesion. Tape, glue, glass glue, etc. Hot-melt adhesive films are common in daily life and can basically be bonded without external conditions, but hot-melt adhesive films can only be bonded after reaching the melting point.

The melting temperature of hot melt adhesive films made of different materials is different, that is, there are high temperature and low temperature. If the heating temperature is higher than the temperature required for the hot-melt adhesive film, the hot-melt adhesive film will melt too fast or excessively, making it easy for the glue to penetrate into the material to be glued. Especially in some textile fields, if the temperature is too high, the glue will penetrate and affect the bonding effect.

At the same time, applying a certain pressure can make the glue form a uniform adhesive layer on the surface of the adherend. Part of the adherend itself has stress, so cold pressing is required after hot pressing, which can effectively avoid bonding failure caused by stress release.

As an efficient hot melt adhesive film, hot melt adhesive film occupies half of the composite material industry. Even so, for many new entrants, hot melt adhesive film is still a very strange thing. In their eyes, there is no difference between hot melt adhesive film and plastic products.

Temperature and pressure are the two basic factors for goodhot melt adhesive film adhesion, and another important factor is the hot pressing time. Because it takes time to heat the hot melt adhesive film, it also takes time to spread the hot melt adhesive film on the surface of the adherend after melting. The hot pressing time is too long, the adhesive penetrates too much, the hot pressing time is too short, the hot melt adhesive film is poorly spread, and the time is too long or too short to be effective.

​From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
