Introduction of TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film

TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film is widely used in the bonding of packaging materials. There are currently four main materials, namely PA hot melt adhesive film, TPU hot melt adhesive film, EVA hot melt adhesive film and PES hot melt adhesive film.

There are two main styles of TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film, one is TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film with release paper, and the other is hot melt adhesive film without release paper. The hot melt adhesive film with release paper is also called TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film with backing paper, which means that there is a layer of release paper on one side of the double-sided TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film, which plays a protective role. The structure is Double layer (so-called release paper, you can understand it as oiled paper, similar to the protective paper on the back of the old express delivery slip, usually made by coating silicone oil on one or both sides of the glassine paper), without release paper This type is also called TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film bare film in the industry. It is a single-layer structure with only one layer of double-sided TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film. There is little difference in product performance between the release paper type and the non-release paper type, but the usage method is different, and the choice should be based on the actual use process of the customer. Release TPU hot-melt adhesive film can be called TPU hot-melt adhesive film with substrate. The substrate is divided into release paper and release film. The release TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film with base material is mainly used for materials that require secondary composite.

TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film bonding method.

First, cut the TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film into the corresponding width, and bond the TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film to the surface of the cloth through high temperature pressing. After drying, the release paper with the adhesive film removed is pressed and bonded again at high temperature according to the process requirements, which is called hot stamping seamless bonding.

According to the material used, the TPU hot-melt adhesive film is attached to the surface of the material through high-temperature composite equipment, and then punched or cut according to the process requirements. After curing, press the release paper from which the adhesive film has been removed to the surface of the adhesive material at a high temperature;

Due to the rapid progress of science and technology, TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film has also developed rapidly in recent years, and it also has some characteristics of ordinary TPU film, making its application scope wider. To meet the needs of other markets.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
