How to distinguish the quality of hot melt adhesive film?
We know that hot-melt adhesive film is made by melting plastic particles and then scraping, melt-blowning and other processes. Normal and honest companies will use 100% of the original plastic particles to make the products reach the most ideal state of the current technology. In order to reduce production costs, some merchants often mix second-hand recycled materials, talcum powder or other additives into the original formula, which reduces the cost while also reducing the viscosity of the product.

How to distinguish the quality of hot melt adhesive film?

We know that hot melt adhesive film is made by melting plastic particles and then scraping, melt-blowning and other processes.

Many customers report that thehot melt adhesive film cannot be glued, thinking that the glue is broken. In fact, when investigating the reason, we must start with the operation, because most customers are the first time to come into contact with this type of product, the use method is limited to the text part, and there is no actual operation, so the operating temperature may be too low and the pressure is too low. , The hot melt adhesive film is not completely melted due to too short time, of course, there is no fastness. Generally, the operating temperature, time and pressure specified in the technical specifications are only reference values. Due to the difference in material quality, thickness and thermal insulation properties of the adhesive material for each application, we cannot write technical specifications for each type of product. More importantly, we need customers to try their own tests based on the actual conditions of their materials. If the material is found to be weakly bonded, we can increase the temperature of the equipment first, and then conduct a joint test.

The instability of inferior products.

To say that some customers can accept low-viscosity products because they want the maximum cost, then you are wrong. If the inferior product is only poor in viscosity, a heavier product should be used to make up for this deficiency, but more importantly, the product is unstable.

In short, when choosing hot melt adhesive film products, do not blindly pursue low prices, but also consider the risks of inferior products that low prices may bring.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
