What is the thickness of TPU film commonly used for massage seat airbags?

The thickness of the TPU film commonly used for massage seat airbags needs to be adapted to the performance requirements and scenarios. The mainstream and expansion ranges are clear: ① The core mainstream thickness is 0.1-0.2mm. This range can accurately balance strength, flexibility and cost, and can meet the basic needs of high-frequency inflation and deflation of massage airbags for most household and commercial models. It is also a mature specification in the industry that has been verified by a large number of fatigue cycle tests; ② Expansion The thickness range is 0.05-0.6mm, of which around 0.05mm can achieve cost optimization (reduce unit material usage) while maintaining strength standards. 0.2-0.6mm is suitable for high durability demand scenarios (such as commercial vehicles, heavy-duty massage mode airbags), which can improve puncture resistance and blasting performance. The blasting pressure of products with a thickness of 0.4mm can exceed 120kpa. The actual selection needs to match the size of the air bag, massage intensity and frequency of use of the car model. Some manufacturers support customized production within this range.

The core advantages focus on dynamic adaptation and durability. The elongation at break of the TPU film can reach 300%-500%, and it can expand and contract synchronously with the repeated inflation and deflation of the airbag to avoid cracking and delamination caused by rigid bonding. However, the elongation of the EVA film is usually less than 200%, and it is easy to become brittle after long-term use. At the same time, its wide temperature range stability of -40°C to 120°C can adapt to summer exposure and severe cold in winter, and its bond strength retention rate exceeds 80% in an environment of 80°C and 95% humidity. It can effectively resist hydrolysis problems caused by sweat and drink splashes, and solve the common hidden danger of "bulging and delamination" of traditional materials.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
