What is TPU spray-free adhesive film?

With the continuous innovation of material technology, TPU spray-free adhesive film has attracted much attention as a new environmentally friendly material. With its unique properties, it effectively solves the disadvantages of traditional materials. Below I will explain the TPU spray-free adhesive film in detail from the aspects of definition, characteristics, advantages, etc.

TPU spray-free adhesive film, namely thermoplastic polyurethane spray-free adhesive film, is a high-performance film material that can achieve a firm fit without additional spraying of glue. It utilizes the thermoplasticity and intermolecular forces of the TPU material itself to closely combine with other substrates under heating or pressurization conditions, eliminating the glue spraying process in traditional processes.

TPU spray-free adhesive film has a variety of excellent characteristics. In terms of physical properties, it has high elasticity, high strength and excellent wear resistance, with tensile strength up to 30-60MPa, with an elongation of break of over 500%, and can adapt to deformation needs in different environments. In terms of chemical properties, it has excellent weather resistance, ultraviolet rays, acid and alkali resistance, and stable performance within the temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃. At the same time, the TPU spray-free adhesive film also has good biocompatibility, can contact food and medical supplies, and is safe and non-toxic.

Compared with traditional adhesive films, TPU spray-free adhesive film has significant advantages. It solves problems such as uneven glue spraying, residual odor, easy aging and degumming, and has a longer and stable bonding effect. From an environmental perspective, the glue-free process avoids air pollution caused by the volatility of organic solvents during glue use, and TPU materials can be recycled and utilized, which is in line with the concept of circular economy. In terms of production efficiency, spray-free adhesive film simplifies the process flow, reduces glue mixing, drying and other links, reduces production costs, and improves production efficiency.

At present, TPU spray-free adhesive film has been widely used in many fields. In the shoe material industry, it is used for upper fitting to improve waterproofness and aesthetics; in the packaging field, food packaging bags and electronic product packaging boxes can be made to ensure product safety; in the interior of the car, it is used for surface covering of instrument panels and seats to enhance wear resistance and visual effects.

With its innovative technology and excellent performance, TPU spray-free adhesive film brings new development directions to many industries and is expected to play greater value in more fields in the future.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
