TPU hot melt adhesive film use temperature misunderstanding full analysis is as follows:

A misunderstanding: ignore the classification of TPU hot melt adhesive film and its melting point

Low temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film: its melting point is relatively low, usually between 60 ~ 80 ℃, suitable for heat-sensitive materials or the need to achieve rapid bonding applications at lower temperatures. This type of adhesive film is widely used in areas such as apparel, shoe materials and certain electronic products.

Medium temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film: melting point is usually between 80~120℃, excellent in adhesive strength and heat resistance, suitable for applications with high material requirements, such as automotive interiors, industrial products and certain advanced electronic products.

High-temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film: at present, there are fewer types of these products, and their melting point is higher, generally above 140℃.

Second, misunderstanding two: improperly set the heating time and temperature

Heating time should not be too long, the heating temperature should not be too high. Specific heating time and temperature should be set according to the actual situation to ensure that the film can quickly bond the material after melting and not damage the material itself.

The use of temperature is generally higher than the melting point of the product 20 ℃ or more, but should not exceed the melting point of 50 ℃ or more. For example, low-temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film use temperature is recommended between 70-110 ℃; medium temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film use temperature is recommended between 120-160 ℃.

Third, the third misunderstanding: ignore the operating environment on the impact of the bonded materials

The high temperature of the operating environment will affect the use of TPU hot melt adhesive film. Therefore, when operating should choose a relatively stable environment, avoid direct sunlight, high temperature baking or high temperature environment for operation.

The high temperature of the surface of the bonded material will also lead to the high temperature of the TPU hot melt adhesive film. Therefore, before the operation can be bonded material pretreatment, such as cleaning, grinding, etc., in order to reduce the temperature of the material surface, improve the bonding effect.

Fourth, misunderstanding four: ignore the impact of material processing on the bonding effect

The use of materials have to deal with the role of anti-adhesion, may lead to poor adhesive fastness.

TPU hot melt adhesive film used when the thickness is not enough, may also affect the bonding effect.

In summary, the use of TPU hot melt adhesive film, you need to fully understand and master its classification, melting point, the use of temperature range, as well as the operating environment and other factors, in order to avoid the use of temperature error, to ensure that the bonding effect and the quality of the material itself.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
