Are raincoats made from TPU film toxic
TPU film is an environmentally friendly material widely used in packaging, medical, electronic, automotive and other fields. Its full name is thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, which is a polymer compound. During the production and processing of TPU films, there may be residual unreacted substances such as catalysts, stabilizers, plasticizers, etc., which may pose certain hazards to human health.

Generally speaking, TPU film itself is non-toxic, but some additives may be added during the processing. If these additives contain toxic substances, they may pose a threat to human health. In addition, if TPU films are affected by factors such as high temperature and ultraviolet radiation during processing, they may also release harmful gases, which can have an impact on human health.

Therefore, when using raincoats made of TPU film, the following points need to be noted:

    1. Choose legitimate brands and merchants to avoid purchasing inferior or counterfeit products.

    2. Before use, carefully review the product instructions and precautions to understand the material, production date, and shelf life of the product.

    3. During use, it is important to maintain ventilation and avoid prolonged wear or use in enclosed environments such as tightly closed doors and windows.

If there is any odor or discomfort, stop using it in a timely manner and seek medical help.

In short, raincoats made of TPU film are non-toxic in themselves, but some issues need to be noted during use, especially when choosing legitimate brands and merchants, paying attention to the usage environment and conditions to avoid harm.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
