Different types of TPU films may have different characteristics

Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) films have been widely used in industries such as automobiles, electronics, healthcare, packaging, and construction due to their excellent performance and wide range of applications. There are various types of TPU films, such as casting, extrusion, blow molding, etc. These different types of TPU films also have differences in characteristics and applications. Below, we will provide a brief introduction and comparison of various TPU films.

    1、 Pourable TPU film

Cast TPU film is a type of TPU film made using casting technology, which has excellent oil resistance, weather resistance, water resistance, and UV resistance. Due to its excellent elastic properties, cast TPU film is widely used in sealing and shock-absorbing materials for automotive components. In addition, cast TPU film can also be used as cable insulation material, waterproof material, etc.

    2、 Extruded TPU film

Extruded TPU film is a type of TPU film manufactured through extrusion technology. It has excellent transparency, oil resistance, weather resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. Due to its high elasticity and strength, extruded TPU film is widely used in electronic product protective films, medical packaging materials, and food packaging materials. In addition, extruded TPU film can also be used for wear-resistant materials such as sports equipment and shoe materials.

    3、 Blow molded TPU film

Blow molded TPU film is a TPU film made by blow molding technology, which has excellent tensile strength, oil resistance, weather resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. Due to its excellent processability and flexibility, blow molded TPU films are widely used in fields such as pipelines, wire insulation materials, flame retardant materials, etc. In addition, blow molded TPU film can also be used as waterproof and insulation materials.

Different types of TPU films have different characteristics and applications, so it is necessary to choose the appropriate type according to specific needs when using them. Meanwhile, due to the close relationship between the performance and use of TPU film and polyurethane elastomers, safety issues need to be taken into consideration during use, such as avoiding direct contact with the skin.

In summary, different types of TPU films have different characteristics and applications, so the selection needs to be determined based on specific needs. In addition, to ensure safety and environmental protection, it is necessary to choose a legitimate brand and channel when purchasing, and follow the relevant usage instructions and precautions. With the advancement of technology and the expansion of application fields, TPU film, as a high-performance material, will play a more important role in future development.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
