How high heat resistance temperature can TPU film withstand?
TPU film is a material named after thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber. It is mainly divided into polyester type and polyether type, with a wide range of hardness (60HA-85HD), wear-resistant, oil-resistant, transparent and has good elasticity. It is widely used in daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials and other fields. In addition, halogen-free flame-retardant TPU can also replace soft PVC to meet environmental protection requirements in more and more fields

TPU film is very suitable for long-term protection of outdoor painted surfaces. Once application is complete, it will not yellow, crack or warp.

So, how high heat resistance temperature can TPU film withstand? Normally, the heat-resistant temperature of conventional TPU film is 80°C, which means that its long-term use temperature cannot exceed 80°C, otherwise the service life will be greatly reduced. At the same time, there is also a heat-resistant TPU, which is said to have a heat-resistant temperature of up to 130°C. In addition, there is TPU modified with glass fiber, and its heat resistance temperature is relatively high.

TPU film is a polyurethane thermoplastic elastomer, which is divided into polyester type and polyether type. It appears as white irregular spherical or columnar particles, with a relative density between 1.10-1.25, and the relative density of polyether type is slightly smaller than that of polyester type. The heat-resistant temperature of conventional TPU film is usually 80°C, which means that its long-term use temperature cannot exceed 80°C, otherwise the service life will be greatly reduced. In addition, there is also heat-resistant TPU, which is said to have a heat-resistant temperature of up to 130°C. In addition, the heat-resistant temperature of TPU modified by adding glass fiber is relatively high.

TPU film can be used as a substitute for PVC. Not only can it bond well with various fabrics, but it can also produce products with clear contours and stable dimensions by using vacuum thermoforming. With the improvement of domestic environmental protection awareness, the application fields of TPU film are becoming more and more extensive. Among them, the fastest-growing fields include shoe lining, thermal underwear, transparent underwear, transparent shoulder straps, elastic bands, and medical breathable tapes.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
