The bonding of TPU hot melt adhesive film may not be successful

The bonding of TPU hot melt adhesive film may not be successful, and there are some special factors that lead to the failure of TPU hot melt adhesive film bonding. If you choose an incorrect TPU hot melt adhesive film, or the bonding material, area, environment , function and other factors, it will cause the bonding failure of TPU hot melt adhesive film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film can be divided into low-temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film and high-temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film. The aging, deterioration or carbonization of the melt adhesive film will easily affect the bonding performance of the TPU hot melt adhesive film, resulting in a greater impact on the quality of the final composite product.

If the heating temperature of the TPU hot melt adhesive film is too high and the degree of melting exceeds the required standard, it is easy to have glue penetration and glue leakage. If it accidentally sticks to the equipment and is not handled in time, it is easy to cause the film to age and accumulate. At the same time, it will also cause equipment to be polluted, and even cause equipment damage, affecting its overall service life.

Compared with hot melt adhesive films of other materials, TPU hot melt adhesive film feels softer at the same thickness, so it is suitable for laminating and bonding textile fabrics in the clothing field. The fabric bonded with TPU hot melt adhesive film will be very comfortable to wear on the human body without feeling of plastic or foreign body.

In addition, the cold resistance of TPU hot melt adhesive film is very important in practical application. The cold resistance of PA hot melt adhesive film is lacking. If it is not modified, it will become hard and brittle in winter, which will affect the subsequent bonding effect. However, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not have such a problem, and it can maintain good softness even at minus 30-40°C.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
