TPU film in shoe upper material structure

    The upper material of high-end sports shoes usually consists of a three-layer structure: the surface layer is PU layer, used for coloring and printing patterns on the upper;

    The middle layer is TPU film, which is the main part of the fabric and determines the main performance characteristics of the shoe upper;

    The bottom layer is a TPU hot melt adhesive film, mainly used as an adhesive to achieve the adhesion between the TPU shoe upper material and the shoe body.

    TPU film shoe materials can utilize the excellent adhesion performance of the bottom layer TPU hot melt adhesive film to directly fit and press the shoe body, without the need for sewing process, thus also known as TPU film non sewing upper.

    Due to the excellent performance of TPU film upper and the processing method that does not require manual cutting, mid to high-end sports shoe uppers are gradually using TPU film upper materials to replace PU ultrafine fiber leather and PU space leather on a large scale.

    TPU film can be used for welding hollow products, fabric lamination, foam material sealing, maintenance coating, wear-resistant coating, etc. It can not only fit with various fabrics, but also produce products with clear outline and stable scale by vacuum thermoforming; The areas where the addition speed is relatively fast include shoe lining, thermal underwear, transparent underwear, elastic bands, medical breathable tape, electronic and electrical appearance maintenance materials, optical films, etc.

    TPU film has excellent biocompatibility, non-toxic, non allergic, no local irritation, and no heat source. Therefore, it is widely used in medical, health, and other related products, as well as sports and protective equipment

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
