The working process of TPU hot melt adhesive film
TPU hot melt adhesive film is a film-like adhesive product that looks like plastic film, so many people who don't know about it will confuse it with plastic film. TPU hot melt adhesive film is generally between 0.01 mm and 0.15 mm thick, and in the TPU hot melt adhesive film industry, 0.01 mm is called a filament, and 0.15 mm is 15 filaments. TPU hot melt adhesive film with 15 filaments is a relatively thick film.

TPU hot melt adhesive film needs to be heated at high temperature to melt the adhesive film, the melted adhesive can infiltrate the surface of the bonded object while applying certain pressure. after the TPU hot melt adhesive film is cooled and hardened again, the adhesive itself forms cohesive force and also produces adhesive force to bond the bonded object together. the use of TPU hot melt adhesive film is mainly divided into large area lamination and small area bonding.

In simple terms, TPU hot melt adhesive film requires high temperature heating to melt the film in order for the melted adhesive to penetrate the surface of the bonded object. TPU hot melt adhesive film is mainly used in large area lamination and small area bonding.

In case of large area lamination, it is generally laminated by laminating machine, which is generally used for laminating processing of textiles, garment fabrics, leather products, foam products and other rolled materials. Generally speaking, the compounding plant uses a large drum laminating machine. As long as the previous rubber groove is replaced with a bearing that can withstand TPU hot melt adhesive film, it can be used normally. When using, the temperature of the composite roller is adjusted to the process temperature of TPU hot melt adhesive film, the material to be laminated is sandwiched between a layer of TPU hot melt adhesive film, the material enters the composite roller together, and the three layers of material are laminated together after rotating around the roller.

The material to be bonded is often compounded with an ironing machine if the width is small.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
