Why does the TPU hot melt adhesive film open when it is compounded?

TPU hot melt adhesive film is a kind of hot-melt film, which is easy to attract people's attention mainly because it is an environmentally friendly adhesive adhesive. Like all adhesive films, its application range will be wider, mainly with a multi-melting point range.

The bonding force of TPU hot melt adhesive film is actually a kind of mechanical bonding force, which is a kind of adhesion that occurs after the TPU hot melt adhesive film melts and enters the pores of the bonded material. Friction, resulting in the ability to combine with each other, and complete the final compound

If you are doing lamination, if the correlation coefficient of the operation and the equipment are normal, but there is a situation of glue opening, then you should consider whether it is related to the model of the selected TPU hot melt adhesive film. Generally, when purchasing a hot melt adhesive film, merchants will often provide information about the type of material you need to bond, and then help recommend a suitable TPU hot melt adhesive film. If the merchant does not recommend it, it is best to test it on the device before making a compound at this time, and then decide whether to continue to use it.

The temperature is too high during operation Although the TPU hot melt adhesive film needs to be melted at a higher temperature, and then the compounding process is completed. However, in the actual application process, we must also pay attention to temperature control and avoid excessive temperature, otherwise it is easy to degrade the TPU hot melt adhesive film material and lose its viscosity.

Application of TPU hot melt adhesive film

    1. Seamless wall covering adhesive

Eva is the main adhesive for seamless wall coverings, but its shortcomings are very obvious, and the melting point temperature of TPU hot melt adhesive film is lower than that of eva, which is more suitable for the treatment of seamless pasting corners.

    2. Leather and sponge

The composite application of leather and sponge is usually made of PA and TPU. If you have high softness, TPU has more advantages.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
