TPU hot melt adhesive film is divided into two types: with release paper and without release paper
TPU hot melt adhesive film, also called TPU hot-melt double-sided adhesive, is a hot-melt adhesive product made by coating and other processes. It is solid at room temperature and has no viscosity, but it will melt at high temperature, and both sides have viscosity. It belongs to an environment-friendly adhesive. Because its structure is similar to the film, and the whole side is adhesive, the bonding fastness is much stronger than that of hot-melt adhesive mesh film, However, the air permeability of bonded products will be greatly affected.

TPU hot melt adhesive film can be divided into high melting point type and low melting point type. In addition to the difference in operating temperature, there is also a big difference in characteristics: the high-temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film is elastic and transparent in color, and the higher the melting point, the better the elasticity and transparency of the TPU hot melt adhesive film; The low temperature TPU hot melt adhesive film has no elasticity, and the color is white fog.

TPU hot melt adhesive film is widely used, and the materials that can be bonded include but are not limited to all kinds of textiles, leather, TPU sponge and rubber materials.

It can be applied to the bonding of automotive interior, clothing, footwear, and other industries.

When using the TPU hot melt adhesive film without release paper, just place theTPU hot melt adhesive film between the two layers of materials to be bonded, and then use the pressing equipment (iron, plate pressing machine or other professional composite machines) for pressing and bonding. Note that the TPU hot melt adhesive film cannot exceed the edge of the material to be bonded, otherwise the TPU hot melt adhesive film will melt and stick to the equipment when contacting high temperatures.

When using the TPU hot melt adhesive film with release paper, it is necessary to use the pressing equipment to pre attach the adhesive film to one side of the material, and then wait for the cooling to tear off the release paper before bonding it to the other side of the material.

For specific bonding of different materials and purposes, which specification of TPU hot melt adhesive film should be selected? Contact us. We can provide product selection application guidance, quotation, free samples and other services.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
