TPU film is also known as polyurethane film

    TPU is also known as polyurethane. So TPU film is also called polyurethane film, which is a block polymer. The TPU film contains uncrosslinked PU, and the hard and soft segments are made of polyether or polyester (soft segment) or polycaprolactone.

    1. Excellent abrasion resistance: The abrasion value of TPU film is 0.35-0.5 mg, which is smaller than that of plastic. Adding lubricating fluid can reduce friction, thereby further improving wear resistance;

    2. Tensile strength and elongation: The tensile strength of TPU film is 2-3 times that of pure natural rubber and artificial rubber, the tensile strength of polyester TPU is >60Mpa, and the tensile strength of polyurethane TPU with 410% elongation is 50Mpa, 550% elongation;

    3. Oil resistance: The oil resistance of TPU film is better than that of nitrile rubber, and it has a good oil resistance and service life;

    4. Cold resistance, weather resistance and ozone resistance. The weathering embrittlement resistance of TPU film is stronger than that of pure natural rubber and some other artificial rubbers. Its ozone resistance and radiation resistance have unique major applications in the aviation industry.

    5. Food and medical grade: TPU film has biocompatibility and anti-coagulation function, and the application of medical TPU film is more and more common. Examples include blood vessels, droppers, and fluid delivery tubes. TPU film does not contain enhancers, is odorless and non-toxic, and is mainly used in various food industries;

    6. Scope of hardness: The hardness of TPU film is 60A-75D. When the hardness is above 85A, the ductility is still maintained, which is an advantage that other elastomers do not have. Therefore, the TPU film has a high load support function and an excellent suction and discharge function.

    7. TPU film is usually divided into polyester TPU film, polyether TPU film, poly(chitosan) and polycaprolactone TPU film.

    TPU film is not only a high-pressure anti-aging material, but also an environmentally friendly material, which is very suitable for the needs of contemporary customers.

    It can be used for brand decoration such as soles, shoe uppers, fitness equipment, car seat materials, umbrellas, luggage packaging, airbags, air cushions, etc.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
