Characteristics and production methods of TPU film

TPU film is mainly used in footwear, garments, medical supplies, defense supplies, sporting goods, industrial supplies, baby supplies and toys, daily necessities, etc. TPU film is widely used in sports shoes: trademark decoration of soles and uppers, airbags, air cushions, oil bags, etc.

Features of TPU film

1. Tear resistance

The tear resistance of the TPU film is the notch tensile tear resistance. TPU films are tear resistant in the transverse physical properties of the material, with different tear strengths, tear angles and tear criteria.

2. Cold resistance

TPU film can also be unaffected at minus 40!

3. Antibacterial and antifungal properties

General materials are easy to mold or breed bacteria in harsh environments, and the antibacterial and mildew-proof TPU film can adapt to this environment, so it has the characteristics of aging resistance and long service life.

production method

1.TPU film extrusion method: add Tpu raw material into the barrel of the extruder, heat and melt, extrude the sheet TPU film, trim and roll.

2.TPU film casting method: First, the TPU raw material is melted, filtered, and defoamed, and then sent to a casting machine, and the solution is cast into a TPU film of a certain thickness through a casting nozzle.

3.TPU film blow molding: The molding feature of blow molding is to make the extruded TPU film into a tube blank through an annular gap mold, and at the same time, the compressed air is introduced axially from the mandrel, and the TPU is clamped with a pair of clamping rods. The membrane, which maintains a constant internal pressure, expands to the desired diameter. After cooling and setting, traction coiling.

TPU film printing materials are usually composed of three layers: the surface layer is PU layer, which is used to color and print patterns on the surface of the object; the middle layer is the main part of the TPU film and fabric, which determines the main performance characteristics of the surface of the object; the bottom layer is TPU hot melt adhesive Film, which mainly acts as an adhesive to bond the TPU film material to the whole object.

TPU hot melt adhesive film vs anaerobic adhesive: "Scene flexibility" difference in automotive interior bonding
2025-09-11
From the perspective of curing conditions, TPU hot melt adhesive film does not need to rely on special environments, while anaerobic adhesives are severely restricted by "auerobicity". The curing principle of anaerobic glue is to undergo polymerization under conditions of lack of oxygen and catalyzed by metal ions (such as iron and copper). If it is in an environment where air circulation or metal substrates are not available, the curing speed will be greatly slowed down or even unable to cure. In automotive interiors, most bonding scenarios are "open" (such as bonding the door panel skin to PP substrate, and the ceiling fabric to the sponge), the air can freely contact the bonding surface, and the substrate is mostly non-metallic (PP, ABS, fabric, etc.), lacking metal ion catalysis, and additional catalyst is required when using anaerobic glue, and the curing time is as long as several hours, which is difficult to meet the needs of industrial production. The TPU hot melt adhesive film only needs to be melted by heating (120-160℃) and can be cured after pressurization and cooling. It does not need to rely on the ambient oxygen concentration or the base material. It can be cured stably in open or closed bonding scenarios, and the curing time only takes a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, adapting to the fast-paced needs of the interior production line.
